Personality and Fighting Style:
Carcinos is one of the smallest of Krak'eann's sons and daughters, second only to his cephalopod ally, Occtulus. As such, he is picked on nearly as mercilessly as his brother, mostly because other monsters cannot help but attack him, often for food, as his size makes him look weak and helpless. Because of his childhood traumas, Carcinos is terrified of many things: the dark, being emotionally and/or physically abused, and predators of all shapes and sizes. It gets to a point that he is naturally shy and docile, and prefers to rearrange his rock gardens or trace intricate patterns on the seafloor as opposed to partaking in combat. His timidness is viewed as a liability for the Sea Monsters as it often proves a hindrance to missions regardless of their intent; it also contrasts with Occtulus's bookishly antisocial geekiness, Ophiomega's hyperactive euphoria, and especially Khondryk's sensible if literally cutting straightforwardness. The Sea Squire in particular, despite their comraderie, frequently snaps at Carcinos for not showing the proper amount of guts and regularly reminds him to chin up and man up, but often makes the mistake of inadvertently insulting him. In doing so he often drives the poor crab to tears, forcing him to backtrack and try to make up for being snide.
Despite his shyness, however, several other aspects related to Carcinos are far more valuable. Along with Khondryk and Shokushu, Carcinos forms one of the original Trinity of Evolution, the founders of the Sea Monsters team, and his belief is that kindness is the key to making allies. The razor corals growing on his shell mirror the way some crab species place seaweed or anemones on their own shells to camouflage and protect themselves from predators. Carcinos has turned this into an art form, and the coral on his shell is styled as closely to an actual coral reef as possible. A whole army of crustaceans living within forms an entire food web in of itself, so Carcinos is essentially an entire ecosystem. This same ecosystem can reach out and communicate with other monsters and sentients as long as they have no interest in hurting him, and assist them as needed. He has an eye (and a few antennae) for even the smallest inconsistencies, and will be there to aid in any crisis no matter how small - even if he has to send in one or two of his smaller crustaceans to do the work for him. And while he does not have a way with other daikaiju, other types of kaiju are a different matter and he gets along very well with sentients and sub-kaiju as long as they aren't prey or enemies.
As can be suggested by his quiet nature and attentiveness to detail, Carcinos is, to be succint, an artisan by nature. He is in fact one of the most creative and aesthetically oriented monsters known, and ever since his father caught him carefully rearranging the shells of the creatures the family had feasted on during their stay in what would become the Burgess Shale Formation, Krak'eann has helped him tap into his artistic talent. The natural geometry of the world has fascinated the great crab since his early days, and his favorite geometric shape is the circle, representing the fact that change always leads to more change, as such is the cycle of evolution. Wherever he takes up residence, rocks, plants, debris, and even shells and bones become arranged in perfectly coincentric rings or outwards-turning spirals around his burrow. Should they be disturbed, odds are that he will soon put them back into place; perfect formations are a good sign that he has just returned to the nest. These site-specific artworks are known both above and below the water, and sentients of many kinds rightfully respect them and indeed cities often request custom-made monoliths which only he can construct. Tying into this creativity, he also has faith in the principle of variation. No two creations are exactly the same, and likewise, no two creatures in his personal ecosystem are exactly alike. Differences in appearance and personality are encouraged by the Claw of Creation, in the hopes that new adaptations develop and hopefully increase biological diversity.
Even though he is terrified of combat, Carcinos is nonetheless a force to be reckoned with, and he certainly has the physical power shrug off anything enemies toss in his direction. His primary forte is in defense, and his main way of handling things is to keep his opponent as busy as possible to wear it down. He trusts the circle more than the straight line as the natural path in combat, and will either circle around an opponent, walking sideways, or more often turn on the spot, blocking and parrying, sometimes attacking if need be to wear the opponent down further. As a physical waller he is reluctant to outright charge into battle the way some of his peers do, but all the same, if he has to protect an ally he will put himself between the protectorate and the opponent as much as possible. His weight does wear him down quickly, though, so when serving as a defender he will remain as still as possible to avoid wearing himself down, relying on his armor to deflect blows and if need be, attacking while standing still.

Moveset:
:bulletblue: Melee - Real Time Weapon Change: This Giant Enemy Crab may be slow, shy, and seclusive, but his greatest strength in battle is not his insane offense/defense but, if his asymmetrical claws are anything to go by, his versatility in using it. He is naturally equipped to deliver various types of damage depending on the attacks he uses at the time, and he can change from smashing your ribs to a grisly pulp one moment to clipping your limbs off the next and then frying your brains to mush afterwards - if he weren't afraid to literally come out of his shell, that is.
----------Crabhammer (Strike 1): Carcinos's right pincer is larger and heavier than the left. Like a cross between the claws of a mantis shrimp and a fiddler crab, in defense it's used to deflect blows but in offense it's the perfect size and shape for beating the shit out of a careless adversary. It's normally kept close to his face as a shield but, should the opponent push him to his limit, the crusher claw will unfold and swing with devestating force, accelerating at over 11,000 g-forces and inflicting at least 2,000 newtons per square millimeter on impact. It should go without saying that you do NOT want to get bitch-slapped by this thing and, even if he misses with it, the close-range shock-wave of cavitation bubbles produced can be equally devestating (see Energy Pulse below).
----------Pinching Pain (Strike 2): In contrast to his right crusher claw, Carcinos's left claw is shaped more like an actual crab's pincer, and he uses in exactly the way you'd expect him to. The results are far, FAR worse than just pinched fingers and toes, though - the razor-sharp edges and bolt-cutter movement can sever a badly placed limb if he's pushed to it. The cutter claw's sharp edges allow it to slash and stab as well as slice, but it cannot grip as tightly as the crusher claw. He uses this claw to snatch softer prey such as piscine sub-kaiju, as their usual lack of body armor makes them harder to crush but easier to dismember.
----------Rollout (Charge): One might think that the heavy shell he carries would make it difficult for him to maneuver, but the Rollout move usually calls for a reconsideration. He cannot retreat into his shell because his own carapace is too large, but he can arch its "tail" under his body and touch it to his headplate. Tucking the limbs in results in an armored ball, covered in razor coral, that can roll at surprising speeds before plowing headlong into his assailant.
----------Spiked Legs (Jump-Strike): The piston-like legs are tipped with sharp claws, and he can bound surprising distances with them. He isn't as acrobatic as the free-swimmers but he can skitter and clamber more easily over the seabed; jumping is not beyond him when he pushes off a suitable platform. Enemies that are trapped under him when he comes down risk being impaled at up to six places, and the wounds are made worse by the fact that the sharp coral covering his lower legs scrapes against and wears off into them.
----------Vice Grip (Combo 1): The crusher claw, as its name suggests, grips and squeezes things. It can exert a power of up to 3,000 newtons per square millimeter, crushing tough armor and bone and reducing flesh and innards to mush. Despite such power, however, he is reluctant to use the crusher claw to, well, crush unless crippling the opponent is necessary, and when he uses the claw to hold things it is surprisingly gentle, capable of holding objects as delicate as sentients without harming them.
----------Spike Swing (Combo 2): That coral-encrusted shell is not just for protection. If he has enough room he can swing it around and use it like a giant club. He certainly has the strength to do so and, with a healthy coating of razor coral, it does make a decent bludgeon after all.
----------ThunderPunch (Combo 3): Inside his tail, head, and claws, Carcinos has electric organs, evolved from nerve centers inside each. These harness the static generated by friction with air or water during battles and generate a massive electrical shock, which can be used both for long-range and short range. The Crabhammer or Spike Swing can be amplified with the electric charge for extra destruction, and occasionally the retractable antennae will lash like charged whips to stave off an opponent that gets too close to his face.
:bulletblue: Ranged 1 - Discharge: The electric organs are not just good for physical combat. He can also send forth powerful electric sparks from inside either of his claws, allowing him to attack from a distance and deal damage without risk of injury.
:bulletblue: Ranged 2 - Energy Pulse: As indicated under Crabhammer, Carcinos's crusher claw creates cavitation bubbles when swung or snapped shut. These are most effective at close range, generating powerful energy pulses that damage and disorient the opponent as they implode in its face. A less powerful version is used when out of the water - as the claw still closes quickly, air is trapped inside and literally squeezed into concentrated rings of plasma and producing a similar result.
:bulletblue: Short-Range Special - Crustacean Army: The coral on his shell is not just used for defense. It also serves as a home for many types of gigantic crustaceans dwelling inside his shell: shrimps, lobsters, crabs, barnacles, and isopods are the most commonly seen, ranging from cat-sized to car-sized. These form an army that normally grooms his hard-to-reach places and defend against parasites, swarms, minions, and sub-kaiju too small for him to reach, usually by attacking and feeding on them. He does not use them often as a direct combat asset, but if danger threatens, he isn't afraid to sic them on his opponents as a desperate defense ploy, commanding entire swarms to flow off one body and onto another in a deadly crimson tide of pincers and piercing legs.
:bulletblue: Long-Range Special - Kamehame Hadoken: This is Carcinos's weapon of last resort, and for good reason. By supercharging the air or water trapped inside it while snapping closed, the crusher claw's movement creates a low-pressure pocket of concentrated plasma that upon imploding generates acoustic pressures of up to 80 kPa, like the specialized hunting claw of the pistol shrimp only on steroids. The blast is backed up by a brilliant burst of light and several-thousand-kelvin heat known as sonoluminescence, making the effect even more dangerous because it may additionally blind and/or flash-roast the victim. All this adds up to a terrifying missile of utterly pure, unadulterated destruction that shoots from the crusher claw at over 200 mph. Needless to say, Carcinos only uses this attack as a finishing move, because it carries the risk of one-hit-killing monsters of Middleweight or below, and anyway, regardless of who or what it hits, the sheer devestation caused by the blast front can and WILL destroy the entire arena almost instantaneously.

Powers/Abilities:
:bulletblue: Shell (and Coral) Armor: Living in the water for so long has given the crab monster a boost in defense. A species of sharp, jagged coral of a vibrant pink color has made itself at home on his already hard exoskeleton armor. This is joined by barnacles and other crustaceans living inside the coral, but the main line of outer defense is the coral itself. The exoskeleton can withstand just about anything you throw at it, even extreme temperatures, and the razor coral is deadly-sharp making closing with him especially hazardous. To hide his vulnerable tail, Carcinos has a gift from his father, a shell resembling a giant isopod, covered in the same razor coral as on his body. The articulated armor segments make it flexible but strong, and he can hide his legs and head by folding the legs inwards and curling the shell forward so the tail tip touches the extendable plate protecting his vulnerable head.
:bulletblue: All-Terrain Vehicle, All-Wheel Drive: Carcinos's walking legs are equally spaced in a ring, allowing him to move sideways, forward, or backward, under or over the water. The back legs have gripping hook-like claws but are not used to attack, but rather to hook onto his shell so he can carry it with him. Only the six walking legs are actually used for locomotion, but these are very powerful, allowing him to skitter over multiple types of surfaces and climb up sheer drops with the claws on the tips. The shell is held off the ground by the tail and back legs, and when moved up and down it helps him swim (albeit quite slowly) in open water, while the walking legs aid in guidance and steering.
:bulletblue: Tactile Antennae: When not in battle the flexible, whip-like appendages extending from the top of his head are used to sense, smell, taste, and touch. These are retractable and normally held in facial sheathes, but they are most often extended to probe the environment in front of him with them, analyzing things with the brush-like tips. Aside from the standard senses they can also detect electricity and the nerve impulses of organic kaiju, allowing him to communicate mentally with those whom he trusts and vice versa.

Weaknesses:
:bulletyellow: Attack Its Weak Point (For Massive Damage): Though the armor is strong, it is not invulnerable. It is particularly thin in several places such as the face and the underside base of his legs, and attacks directed at either of these will incapacitate him. His tail is even worse, as it lacks armor altogether, which is why he has to keep his shell on at all costs (see also Forced Shell Removal). Additionally his eyes and antennae, as well as his legs and pincers, have soft joints and are easily damaged or removed, though they do regrow over a period of several days after removal.
:bulletyellow: Mighty Glacier: With a big shell weighing him down, Carcinos cannot move very fast for very long. He chooses his movements carefully and precisely for such simple tasks as walking, so while he can roll at speed over level terrain, he has difficulty cornering or dashing, and hilly environments and rocky outcrops make maneuvering difficult for him without outside help.
:bulletyellow: Forced Shell Removal: Though the shell weighs him down, the crab is very attached to it and will not part with it unless absolutely necessary. This increases his speed but wrecks his defense because his tail is exposed. The shell itself is indestructible for a reason: Under no circumstances should it be removed forcibly, because it causes him to go into a panicked frenzy that can only mean disaster for friends and foes alike.
:bulletyellow: Camera-Shy: As the tin says, Carcinos evolved as a prey item and is afraid of many creatures big and small. If attacked, he panics easily, curling up under his shell and hoping the percieved threat disappears. His other flaw is that he is extremely kind-hearted and refuses to fight, even to save his own life, tying into the flight part of the fight/flight reflex. As a character who avoids conflict, he has to be forced to strike a killing blow and will apologize profusely if he causes damage with any attack. There are rumors that he will fly into a frenzy of destructive fury if his friends are threatened by the most immoral or amoral of foes, but most of them have yet to be verified.

And here's the finished color pic. With regards to Carcinos's color scheme, I had the UCA pic's coloration in mind and used that as a reference. However I also recognized that the shell needs to be colored differently from his body because it's technically separate from it. On a whim I'd colored the antennae red and black like jumper cables, so I figured I could use those colors elsewhere. So for the final color pic he's got two shades of blue, two shades of yellow, two shades of red, and two shades of gray. Oh, and one shade of white for the claws too.
